Venus Williams

My Favs

For years, a good portion of my life has been spent flying on airplanes or recovering from training. So naturally, I read a lot. When it comes to books, I am a total geek. I read a lot of fantasy and a lot of Young Adult genre. I will read thrillers as well, and every now and then I’ll get caught up in a popular girlie book (but never cheesy romance novels!) Serena and I always trade books, and she has turned me on to some of my favorites.

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore: I am way more into fantasy than science fiction, but I liked I am Number Four. I liked the sequel too, which is called The Power of Six. (They have a lot of fantasy elements in them.) As usual, the book is much better than the movie.

The Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull: Serena was the one who told me about these books, and I love them! I love stuff that couldn’t happen in real life and getting completely caught up in a story and entering a whole other world.

The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling: Like everyone else, I read all the Harry Potter’s. I swear I started reading them before they got so crazy-popular. I don’t know why I am like this, but I don’t like to do popular stuff. I am the same way about the clothes I wear.

Comic Books: It sounds funny, but I started getting into comic books at the age of 30. I love DC comics, especially Flash, Superman, and the Justice League. The Flash is my favorite. (I am talking about Wally West, the recent Flash, not the older one.) He has an amazing body and a great personality. I wish superheroes were real. I would give up my job and chase them!

Come To Win by Venus Williams: Even though this is my book, I have to include it on the list. I still like picking it up and thumbing through the interviews of so many famous and powerful people and reading about how sports has touched their lives and propelled their careers. When you read about something you have in common with, say, Sir Richard Branson, it inspires you to go out and achieve.
