A Little Downtime
Hey guys,
This week has been filled with more down time since the book tour was so crazy! I have been doing a lot of schoolwork, which has kept me really busy. Since I am back in school to get my interior design degree, the summer school classes are only 5 weeks long so they are really intensive. I have assignments due almost every day. It has been really fun doing all my drawings and projects though. I am learning a lot! I love being in LA in the summer, the weather is perfect and there are so many things to do. I am so excited to start training again this week without the crazy humidity from the Florida sun. I think Harold likes it better too. I had a lot of fun on the book tour and with World Team tennis (Go Kastles!!!), and I had the opportunity to meet so many great people. Going to all of the cities and meeting my fans was awesome. The kids at the Powerade Play event in Chicago were so much fun to play tennis and basketball with, and I got to shoot hoops with Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls. The YWCA in LA has shown so much support for all the things I believe in as well. Seeing the young adults graduate from their program was very humbling, and I can't wait to be more involved with them in the future. I hope everyone has a good weekend, and I will see you all in Cincinnati in a couple of weeks! Take care, xox Vee 99 Comments

by amazon @ Aug 14, 2010 01:28 am
Ok Vee please do not be stubborn and ask for a New Heaven wildcard, you need to have some kind of tune up tour before US open.OH God that stupid injury maybe you should tink about some operation to that knee. You can not just go and play US open with no preparation.I am afraid that Vee will withdraw herself from US open. Please Vee we need some update.

Heyyy Miss Venus! I just wanted to say that you are seem to be a lovely person, so positive, humble, successful, and good sense of humor. I hope you know your true value. Don't let the world tell you different or drag you down into it's abyss. Keep looking up! Maybe when you go to the KH or annual CAs and DCs people may not know how to take you or approach you, but just know who you're REALLY there for, and that you have 'family' worldwide who are sooo proud of you and praying for you.

MONTREAL (AP)€”Venus Williams is withdrawing from next week€™s WTA tournament in Montreal, citing an injured left knee that is hampering her preparation for the U.S. Open.
The No. 4-ranked Williams already had pulled out of this week€™s hard-court event in Cincinnati, another tuneup for the year€™s last Grand Slam tournament, which begins Aug. 30. In a statement issued by the Montreal tournament, Williams says she€™s looking forward to playing there for the first time, €œbut the pain that I am experiencing in my knee has unfortunately not gone away.€ The seven-time Grand Slam champion hasn€™t played a singles match on tour since June 29, when she was upset in the Wimbledon quarterfinals by 82nd-ranked Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria. by Shirley @ Aug 13, 2010 11:02 am

Pova is the honorary American, she gets the best schedule at all American events,no middle of the day in the hot sun match for Sharapova...like all the other players are not that important if they get sun damage .I think players should protest this blatant favoritism.I dont blame Vee and Ree for skipping all the American hardcourt events, remember they played in the blazing sun from Stanford to Montreal and Serena was the top seed.I understand Nadal playing night matches because he is top seed not Sharapova .I GUESS THEY WILL CONTINUE TO SHOVE HER DOWN OUR THROATS.

I just read a comment that said that the sisters have totally ignored the American hard courts this summer. I just wanted to point out that maybe they are tired of some of the spectators supporting anyone but them on the hard courts. I always thought it was amazing how at the US Open you would have the mainly American crowd cheering and siding with the sisters opponents. It is disgusting and shameful. If there is an American playing, I always cheer for the American, no matter what. When they go to other countries, sometimes they get more love then here. I know other countries cheer for their own above all others when they have a country person playing, but not in America. So why should they extend themselves for jeers. Yes, there are us fans who love to see them play, but so many will not be satisfied until they are off the tennis landscape and we are facing a desert as far as American tennis players. I sure have not seen any up and coming juniors on the horizon and at all the major tennis events Venus and Serena are the only remaining shining stars (we difinitely can't rely on the men-the Bryon brother are getting weak)that always have to hold up the American banner and many times I hear Americans acting like the are disappointed that they even won.

I cant believe Venus isn,t cracy about tennis.
And the beginning of the year she was so motivated and realy believed she good get to the number one spot again. And it only take one grandslam win to get her there. I saw her say on tv thats she wanted to dominated the tour again. Maybe it is to much for her, but the only thing we wanted from her is good tennis. And fysical she,s oke , I saw her play better tennis with a brace on then with out. So the knee should not be a problem. by jackie @ Aug 10, 2010 01:45 am
I hope Venus plays, remember she had some fan design a dress for her to wear at the Open, that will be disappointing to her fans and the designer. love you Vee!! by malti @ Aug 09, 2010 09:01 pm

Sitting here watching the 2001 US Open and I liked how Venus played her sister freely. Like no worries. She just went all out. Now its like she has gotten softer towards defeating her sister.Sorry but I have to say this. Watching the mother in the stands she was steadfast cheering for Serena. I just wonder where was that for Venus. I am getting the sense that Venus just does not have the joy for tennis as once had. I could be wrong but I don't think so. I think her other intrest are shining thru and she wants to focus more on them than tennis.Serena has gotten much better while Venus has stagnated. I think that honestly Venus just wants it over with. Pulling out of tournaments. Not too intrested in the slams anymore like before. I am just seeing little tell tell signs.
by chey @ Aug 09, 2010 07:12 am
Your right about serena.
But when Serena shows her self at the grandslams ( the party,s are over )and its time to dominate everyone who stand in her way. Venus is softer and need more time to get in to it. Thats her weakness and her strengt and becaus off that everyone loves her no matter what. I like Serena en Venus they can learn a lot from each other i,m sure they do. by tina @ Aug 09, 2010 06:49 am
at least Venus tries to play smaller events, what about her hard partying sister. She is running from club to club instead of resting her foot.
That incident at USA Open was her fault, she should not have reacted like that.Serena is an ungrateful, egomaniac who only cares about herself.Last year she was forcing Venus to play doubles when she knew that she had an injury.Venus should make her play doubles at the Open with that fake foot injury. by chey @ Aug 09, 2010 05:29 am
Pleas Vee I love but I dont wanna her nothing more about the book are Harrold.
I know you love that dog and your very proud off the book. Prepair yourself for the US open en let us know how your knee is doing. I hope your still gonna play Toronto if not i wish you the best. Your knee must have suffer, walking on those high heels promoting the book from city to city. You should have known that wasn,t the best praparation for any tournament. Good luck and surprise us, prove that we were wrong. I will always love you no matter what. by jude @ Aug 09, 2010 02:20 am
I worry too much for Vee and Serena!
I still do not know if she will be able to play in Montreal. I hope she is well and this week of rest will allow her to be fit for the following competitions. do you have any news of vee? since she remains unclear whether she will play in Canada. I hope she takes her time and it heals the wound, before resuming the Competiton in Montreal : by Margo @ Aug 08, 2010 11:27 am
WHATTT!! Vee pulled out of Cincy....oh boy!
I dont know what to say about this or her pulling out...I dont even know what to say about Venus' career right now...Im disappointed but I hope she takes this time to rest and prep for Montreal next week or if she pulls out of that one hopefully she is good to go for U.S Open but this year...Venus needs to have a breakthrough...or else... by malti @ Aug 08, 2010 08:16 am

Venus said a few months ago she wanted to be number one again.
Thats mean she could have waited with her book tour till the tennis season was over. I hope she,s gonna be alright but she dont not have the believe off Serena. Serena can stay a way from the tour and still win grandslams. I think she will make it to the championschips so i,m still positive and hope she will suprise us ,becaus i now she can. by sky @ Aug 07, 2010 08:35 pm

Fans as much as we love Venus we have to accept that tennis is the only priority in her life. Her book is just an extention of what she is trying to accomplish off the courts just like her being in school getting her degree. Yes we want her on the courts but she has to want that as well and right now I think she is just finding the next chapter of her life which she will be focusing more on now. Yes I dont think she is done with Tennis right now but we better get ready because again its not her main priority as once before. Either way I will continue to support all her endeavors. I just get the sense we are getting a preview of her winding things up. I hope I am wrong.
by VoiceofReason @ Aug 07, 2010 07:27 am
My only prayer is that Venus will take the appropriate time to rest and return, as her advisers say, when she is pain free. There is no sense in being disappointed when there are plenty of other tournaments in which to play before the US Open. Considering that Venus typically plays a limited schedule at this part of the year that seems quite prudent to me. That means that this week I can actually get some work done instead of skulking various sites for tennis scores. I love to watch Venus play, but the anxiety is near unbearable. See you next week Venus!

That was not my point,my point was that I kind of think that Vee did all this book tour in bad time, this time she really had to step up her game and really commit herself to tennis.I think this was her way to escape from tennis. No I did not think that Vee fakes her injuries but this injury has come in bad time if there is a good time for it.Vee please if you are not going to play Cincy then ask for a wild card to play Pilot pen.Get well Vee.
Because you need time to adjust your game to hard court again and your knees too,so please do not be stubborn. Goodluck Vee by Rayn @ Aug 06, 2010 10:56 pm

I hope so that this is not true because Vee you really know how to make things difficult for yourself. And that is it when real Vee wants to show herself and her wonderful game that is it but when you do not do that you are so erratic and zou just give up yourself.I wondered how you could possibly be ready to play in Cincy when you did that book tour and did not practice at all and now I found out that you are injured. You just have found a perfect moment for a stupid injury.Maybe you should go and operate that knee.

Vee, love your game and all that, however i would like to see you participate in the family circle cup more. You and Serena( MY FUTURE BABY MOMMA) always cancel the last minute. We love you heart stoppers down here in the "Chuck Towne" as well. My daughter (Faith "pumpkin pie" Robinson Mitchell) plays in Leslie Allens'
Win for life program. I was at the game when Serena was playing back in 2008, you were sitting next to Common and all i could think was "besides the millions of dollars, what does Common have that i don't. Vee tell your sister, Serena, to use her resources and find me here in Charleston, I need to ask her something important. peace- Pretty by Lavonia @ Aug 06, 2010 10:06 am
